Flat Fee Attorney Family & Divorce Law

Family at a Beach

I’ve practiced law in Fayette and Coweta Count for over 20 years. My least favorite part of being an attorney is trying to get money out of people who are going through a tough time emotionally and financially. Many people must borrow money from family and friends with the embarrassment that that entails. Don’t fall for the “your husband will pay” promise; the attorney can and will place a lien on all of your assets to assure a high payday.

After paying the large retainer, clients get upset when they shortly thereafter get a bill showing that this large sum of money is now gone, and the attorney wants another retainer. If you don’t pay the retainer you lose your attorney, and if you pay you then are going into debt with no end is sight. It is in the hourly attorney’s interest to keep your case going. Many people give up and settle for less than fair.

I charge a $2,500.00 flat fee upfront and $500.00 per month thereafter until your matter is resolved. No surprise amounts owed, just a monthly payment thereafter. You will be responsible in addition for costs of the litigation such as filing fees, court reporter fees and the like. If the judge makes an award of attorney’s fees against your spouse, the attorney receives this sum.
